When Bing Internet When Bing crawls and indexes pages, it has to decide which pages are most likely to resonate with searchers. There are many reasons why your site might not be in the Bing index, but first you should verify that your site is indeed in the index. If no results are returned and your site or page is not in the index, this could be due to any one or more of the following reasons:
- Your site is new and we haven't discovered and crawled it yet: For new sites, Bing needs time to find links and crawl your site. Even if you submit a sitemap as described in Submit a URL to Bing directly to us through your webmaster account, we still need to crawl and evaluate it before it appears in our index.
- We encountered problems while crawling the site:If we consistently can't crawl your site, we may not choose to index it. You can use the URL Inspection tool to see if our main crawler, Bingbot, is able to crawl your homepage and other pages.
- There are no links pointing to your site: A new websiteFrequently asked questionsis the lack of links pointing to it from elsewhere on the web. Not only do links help us discover your content, but they can also tell us something about the popularity of your pages. Remember, we’d rather see links pointing to you from high-quality, authoritative sites than hundreds of new links popping up from random sites. Most importantly, however, you need at least one link pointing to your site in order for us to find it. More quality links is obviously better, but focus on getting a few quality links pointing to your new site by creating compelling, link-worthy content.
- Your Robots.txt file is blocking us from crawling your site: If you set up your robots.txt file incorrectly, you may inadvertently tell Bingbot not to crawl your site. This may prevent you from appearing in our index. Check out How to Create a Robots.txt File to learn more about how to properly set up a basic robots.txt file.
You have onecontent=”NOINDEX”> On your web page: If your page contains in the source code of the page we do not add them to the index. - You blocked the URL in Bing Webmaster Tools: If you have a valid Bing Webmaster account, you may have used the Blocked URLs tool to display the Blocked URLs form in our results. Check your account to make sure the URLs you want to see in the index are not blocked there.
- Your site does not meet Bing's required quality thresholds: Bing loves unique, high-quality content. Sites that duplicate content, quickly redirect users, or offer little depth generally perform poorly in our results. Chronic poor performance may cause us to delist a site to make room for higher-quality sites.
- Your site has been penalized and removed from the index: In the rare case that we find that your site violates quality guidelines or we find malware on your site, your site may not appear in search results because it has been penalized. Bing communicates directly with site owners through Webmaster Tools to alert them of any malware we detect on their site. If malware is detected on your site, we will either remove the site completely from search results or add a malware warning to the listing to protect our searchers. If you have been hit by malware, you should follow the Bing Webmaster Guidelines accordingly.
Most of the reasons are "your website does not meet the quality threshold required by Bing." Many collection sites will be desperately crawled and included by Bing in the first few days, and then all indexes will be suddenly deleted, so that you are happy for nothing.
