In October 2014, Reddit received $50 million in a round of investment led by Sam Altman and including Marc Andreessen, Peter Thiel, Ron Conway, Snoop Dogg, and Sheila Leto. Their investment valued Reddit at $500 million.

In August 2018, netizens discovered that Reddit was unavailable in mainland China. It was later confirmed that Reddit was affected by DNS pollution and was unavailable in some areas.

Reddit is currently the fifth largest website in the United States, with traffic second only to Google, YouTube, Facebook and Amazon, and 330 million monthly active users.
